Australia's Full Flower Moon Band and New York’s Gustaf have joined forces on Scene: a bold, high-energy, transatlantic collaboration that fuses swaggering rock with a tongue-in-cheek take on fame, ego and touring - out 13 June.
Scene is a raw, fun exploration of the complexities of fame, distorted through a larger-than-life lens. The track captures the essence of alternative rock in its purest form - unapologetic, bold, and electrifying. As the music swings from gritty guitar riffs to infectious melodies, FFMB x Gustaf deliver a future classic for those in the know.
Kate ‘Babyshakes’ Dillon, lead singer and songwriter for FFMB, explains that with Scene, “I wanted to write a song that’s completely about ego. At first, I wasn’t sure if that was a good idea, in case people thought I was being sincere.”
Drenched in attitude and theatrical flair, the song delves into the sense of detachment that often accompanies fame, portraying an exaggerated version of the VIP lifestyle. As Babyshakes explains, "I wanted to play with the ego and make it something fun. The song speaks from this extreme perspective, like an ultra ego speaking about being ‘VIP’. At first, I was concerned that it would come across as too cocky, but I realised that’s exactly what I wanted."
“I knew I wanted Gustaf on this track, and I’m so glad it happened. Lydia is one of the most intimidating and effortlessly cool voices I can think of right now,” Babyshakes says. “It really was a beautiful thing to hear her bring the track to life in a way that the song needed from the start. I’m so glad she was down to do it, because a song like this can’t be sung by just anyone."
The track was mixed by Tony Buchen, the acclaimed producer and mixer behind FFMB’s latest #1 ARIA charting album MEGAFLOWER, further cementing the band’s bold sonic identity.
With its infectious groove and sharp commentary on the absurdities of celebrity culture, Scene marks a dynamic musical collaboration between masters of the alternative rock scene. These two cult favourites have crafted a track that hits hard, goes deep, and proves that true artistry knows no borders.
Full Flower Moon Band’s new single SCENE is out now via Dirty Power Studios (AU/NZ) and Silver Arrow (rest of world)
