One of Western Australia’s most exciting live acts, Littlefair has electrified audiences all over the state with their eclectic brand of folk-rock, gracing stages from WAMFest’s Scarbs Beach Party 2023, Shark Bay ‘Beats in the Bay’ 2024, to Nannup Music Festival 2024 - even taking out the festivals ‘Emerging Artist’ award. With a forthcoming debut EP in the works (due April), the group are unveiling their latest uptempo blues-tinged indie-rock track Happy - out 24 January.

With three independently released singles out already: Honey, 25 and Tired Eyes, which was nominated in the ‘Folk’ and ‘Rock’ categories at the West Australian Music (WAM) Song of the Year awards in 2024, Littlefair make music that flows and blends between folk, rock, blues, and pop, drawing comparisons to bands such as The Beths, The Cranberries, Of Monsters and Men, and The Waifs.

Written at a time when lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Jessica Depiazzi was feeling a bit lost purpose-wise, Happy is about “ticking off the goalposts of job, relationship etc in life and then being like- is that it? And then venturing past those and finding your own meaning.” Fun and boppy, with a healthy streak of cynical snark, Jessica also explains, "This was one of the first songs where we started moving naturally away from the singer-songwriter folk feel to something a bit more uptempo and fun.”

Produced, mixed and mastered by Lee Buddle at Crank Studios, “We tried to bring out the fun in the song by recording as many elements at once as we could for the initial takes, to capture that live feeling” explains Jessica, continuing, “The recording process was fantastic! We first played this song for our producer Lee live at Nannup music festival, it was one of the two tracks that won us the emerging artist award that came with recording time in his studio. Lee is meticulous in his work, especially when it comes to harmonies and ensuring they're spot on. We love the attention to detail he gave this song for us.”

Littlefair will be celebrating the release of Happy with a single launch:

Saturday, 1 February at Clancy’s Fish Pub, Fremantle, WA.
