Red Temples unveil powerful new single 'Tilt'

Perth-based indie rock outfit Red Temples return with their evocative new single, Tilt - out June 13, 2025. 

Red Temples, comprised of Jim Churchill (Vocals/Guitar), Chris Ellis (Guitar), Paul Dean (Bass), Seath Churton (Drums), and Phil Berrick (Keys/Guitar), has solidified their place in the Perth music scene with their nostalgic yet forward-thinking sound. 

Blending influences from their youth, modern life, and a deep-seated connection with one another, Red Temples crafts music that is both intimately familiar and refreshingly new. Tilt, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Sam Pettit at Fatback Studios, marks another chapter in the band’s journey of storytelling through raw indie rock, reminiscent of acts like Incubus, Powderfinger, and Cold War Kids. 

A visceral exploration of self-discovery and hedonism, Paul explains, "Tilt came from a turbulent period of my life. I’d been stuck in a rut for a long while, which had slowly eroded my self-esteem. Suddenly I found myself free from that routine, which led to a spiral of hedonism. Tilt is really about chasing a high, finding that intense connection with someone, and that becomes addictive.”

Continuing, “Recording the song was a cathartic experience, being able to collect and centralise all these thoughts in one place."

The band’s recent releases have been met with acclaim, with single Fallback Plan securing a nomination in the Top 20 and Water from the Stars in the Top 5 at the West Australian Music (WAM) Song of the Year Awards, a testament to their rising momentum and impactful songwriting.

With Tilt, Red Temples continues to build on their reputation for delivering infectious energy and heartfelt storytelling. As they prepare for its release, the band is set to remind fans of the raw power and authenticity that has defined their journey thus far.

Red Temples will be launching Tilt with a show at The Bird, Northbridge, on the 5th of July, with special guests Moth Street Artists and Steak Sauce.
